This month marks the return of Steyoyoke veteran Dahu to the label; ever-evolving, subby and percussive, Dahu’s 5th EP ‘Hesia‘ sees him pulling out all his signature stops, from ultra low frequency kicks to melancholic synths drenched in warmth. The EP features two original tracks, ‘Hesia’ and ‘From Whence We Came’.

‘Hesia‘ is an exercise in minimalism, developing subtlely until culminating in a ferocious drop layered with resonating mids, a few well chosen percussive elements and a gut pounding kick meant to be felt as well as heard. A heart wrenching lead and bassy resonators combine to hover over the track, dousing it with emotion.

‘From Whence We Came‘ features a complex percussive groove plowing relentlessly forward. The sub-laden kick drum barely lets the listener come up for air, while the lead plays an enticing repetitive mantra, transporting the track into an unexpectedly melancholic dimension, and forging an instant afterhours classic.

As a long term Steyoyoke artist, Dahu has forged his own sound within the sphere of Ethereal Techno. Building on his reputation for sub-heavy melancholia, the ‘Hesia’ EP showcases old and new aspects of the German producer’s unique sound alike.
